For the third year, the Henderson County Non-Profit Resource Connection event is slated to take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cain Center in Athens.
The event once again will be designed to showcase participating non-profit organizations in Henderson County.
One of the event organizers, Mary Waddell, said, “The purpose is so the non-profits can show the community the many volunteer opportunities available in Henderson County.”
“Come learn what a non-profit in Henderson County can do for you,” Waddell said. “People in the community are not aware of what non-profits do.”
All non-profits, such as the Henderson County Help Center, East Texas Crisis Center, the Family Peace Project, United Way and many more depend on volunteers.
“We're really pleased that there’s a wide variety of organizations to suit a wide variety of interests,” said Waddell.
Waddell said there would be about 25 non-profit organizations at the event on Saturday.
Carter BloodCare will be on hand to administer a blood drive. Waddell said there will be eye screenings, blood pressure checks and chair massages. Dr. Dwight Bates of podiatry will be on hand to check for diabetic neuropathy.
The event is open to the public. There will be food, entertainment and door prizes for visitors.
A raffle for a Brickman Grill and a Kindle Fire HD will be held. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
