The Trinity Valley Community College choral groups are going old school with this year's holiday concert.
"We wanted to present songs everyone would know, songs the audience would be familiar with, and I really feel we have a group of great traditional songs this year that have stood as classics through the ages," said TVCC Choir Director Dr. Byron McGilvray.
The TVCC Choir will present “Christmas Treasures” at 3 p.m., Dec. 2. The concert will take place at Dogwood Church in Athens.
As is the tradition with the college's choral concerts, there will be no admission charge for the event.
There will be a few special guest singers during the concert, said McGilvray. Shelby Ballinger, Tim Samples and TVCC President Dr. Glendon Forgey will be among the featured soloists at the event.
New music department faculty member Peter Miller will be a guest conductor. Also, students who are part of the TVCC Symphonic Band will be part of the performance.
But perhaps the most special guest of all, said McGilvray, will be Santa Clause himself, who will be available to take those all-important gift requests.
Dogwood Church is located at 6467 Farm-to-Market Road 2494 in Athens, which is three miles west of the college. The concert is sponsored by Steve Grant Realty and the Lakeland Community Concert Association.
