Athens — For the first year, Black Friday started on the evening of Thanksgiving. The sale at Walmart in Gun Barrel City started at 8 p.m., but shoppers showed up at 5:30 p.m. Some shoppers waited in long lines to get those sought-after toys. Gun Barrel City Police were in full force to keep the crowd orderly. Black Friday continued on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
