Cedar Creek Lake Day

Celebration scheduled at State Capitol February 5

Special to the Review
The Athens Review

Athens — The 2013 Cedar Creek Lake Area Day at the Texas State Capitol will be Feb. 5.  The Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the trip and making the arrangements.

The cost per person will be $75 for chamber members and $80 for non-members. The nominal fee includes bus transportation, snacks on the bus and lunch at the Doubletree Hotel.

As in years past, the only out-of-pocket expense to participants is what they may choose to spend at the Capitol Gift Shop.

This one-day trip to the state capitol is a powerful opportunity to be part of a unified group representing the entire Cedar Creek Lake Area community, with recognition from the floor of the House and the Senate in the 83rd Texas Legislature.  An invitation has been extended to Sen. Robert Deuell and Sen. Robert Nichols and to State Rep. Lance Gooden and State Rep. Jim Pitts to join the group for lunch, or at some point during the day, depending on their schedules.

Arrangements for the Capitol portion of the trip are being coordinated with the office of Sate Rep. Lance Gooden.

In the afternoon, the group will meet in a committee room in the Capitol with representatives from select state agencies that can provide valuable information that’s specific to the Henderson County area. The Texas Department of Transpoertation and the Agriculture Commissioner’s office are on the schedule, with the possibility of others being added.

The trip will start in downtown Mabank at about  6 a.m. The bus will depart Austin at 4 p.m. for the return trip, with an expected arrival back in Mabank around 8 p.m.  Space on the bus is limited, so interested citizens are encouraged to make your reservation early. Call 903-887-3152 to reserve and pay by Master Card, VISA or Discover. E-mail info@CedarCreek LakeChamber.com to reserve your seat, or just mail your check to P. O. Box 581, Mabank TX 75147, and memo it for “Cedar Creek Lake Legislative Day.”

Make your reservation now, and plan to be a part of the traditional Cedar Creek Lake Area Day in the 83rd Texas Legislature.  It’s fun, it’s informative, and it’s important to the community.
