The Athens Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, and arrested a man on a felony drug charge.
Fifty-three-year-old Jon Nolan Davis was booked into the Henderson County jail for possession of a controlled substance (one gram to four grams) The offense is a third-degree felony, and carries a punishment range upon conviction of two to 10 years in a state prison, and/or a fine of not more than $10,000. Davis posted $5,000 bond, and was released.
APD reports indicate that dispatch received a call at about 11 p.m., Thursday, reporting that an old model truck had pulled behind the COSMEC Inc. business in the 1500 block of Rocky Ridge Road. Sgt. Jason McEntire drove to the area, and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
McEntire approached the vehicle, and identified the driver as Davis and Belinda Norman, 46, as passenger. After searching the occupants and the vehicle, the officer discovered the controlled substance.
APD reports indicate that the occupants of the vehicle were transported to jail, Davis for the drug charge, and Norman for failure to wear a seat belt. Norman was later released without bond.
