A 32-year-old Kemp woman remained in jail Thursday after she was arrested on narcotics charges in the Seven Points area.
Melissa Ann Garland was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, a state-jail felony, as well as possession of a dangerous drug, a class A misdemeanor. Total bond on the two charges was set at $8,500.
Garland was stopped for a defective tail light Tuesday night on County Road 2138 near Kingswood Drive. Dep. Kenny Collard identified the driver as Garland, and began a search of the vehicle.
Collard discovered numerous baggies and digital scales that can be used for measuring narcotics for sale.
HCSO reports indicate Collard located pills in the vehicle believed to be Xanax, and other pills that appeared to be valium.
He also found a glass pipe believed to be methamphetamine, and other related paraphernalia.
