ATHENS —
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old female, near Brownsboro Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a man with a knife in a family altercation.
Alizabeth Leann Mesta was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She remained in custody Wednesday awaiting arraignment.
According to HCSO reports, Dep. Duane Sanders and Sgt. Mitch Baker responded to a disturbance call Sunday involving violence at a residence off Farm-to-Market Road 3204 near Brownsboro.
Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with a 37-year-old Brownsboro man who had minor lacerations to his throat and arm.
HCSO reports indicate that the deputies spoke with several witnesses at the scene, and learned that Mesta had assaulted the man with a knife, then left before the law officers arrived.
On Monday, Baker presented an arrest warrant affidavit to Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Sue Starnes.
Starnes issued a warrant for Mesta’s arrest on the second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence).
HCSO officers began to seek information concerning Mesta’s location. At about 5 p.m., Tuesday, Investigator Wick Gabbard and Warrant Dep. Kyle Pochobradsky located the suspect, and made the arrest.
