The Athens Review
Mary Margaret Wright is announcing her candidacy for the position of Henderson County Clerk. Wright has been a resident of Henderson County most of her life. Her family has been part of Athens community and Henderson County all of their lives.
Wright attended elementary and junior high school at Martins Mill and Athens High School, graduating in 1981. She went on to Henderson County Junior College (TVCC) for two years.
Her professional career began at the Athens Country Club, where she spent 15 years in both non-management and management positions. At the Country Club, she worked with a vast array of organizations and individuals and managed the Country Club staff through a large number of successful events and functions benefiting and enjoyed by the citizens of Athens and Henderson County as a whole.
What better way to start a career for such an avid golfer? She continues to enjoy playing golf, working with the Rotary Club of Athens, and participating in the activities of various other organizations. And she is a Republican.
Wright then moved on to the Ole West Steak House for 10 years, where most of you are familiar with her friendly face and outstanding customer service as she served you.
The position of Deputy Clerk in the Henderson County Clerk’s Office is where Wright realized her prior experience in the service industry and her passion for excellent customer service could make a positive difference. During her five years in that office, she is remembered as the friendly, courteous helper who assisted the citizens with their business there.
Currently, Wright is working with a local title company as an abstractor, where her knowledge, attention to detail and customer service skills are availed by both the public and professional clients of the title company.
Wright feels her knowledge of the County Clerk’s Office, her ability to meet the expectations of both the citizens and business of Henderson County and her goal to take a good office and make it great will be realized.
Her work day will start at 8 a.m. sharp, and she will work until the job is done. By having an “Open-Door” policy, working diligently with county officials on the budget and ensuring service to local title companies and attorneys, as well as the public, she will meet and exceed what is expected for the success of the County Clerk’s Office.
