Fatal shooting suspect arrested

Alleged shooter, 67, believed involved in domestic dispute with woman

Athens — The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office is reporting that a Kemp woman was killed in what authorities are calling a domestic dispute, and a man has been arrested. The unidentified woman was shot and killed Tuesday night, March 11.

The incident occurred at a residence located on  Farm-to-Market 3396 in Kaufman County. The location is in the Toolsa area, off State Highway 274, between Kemp and Seven Points.

According to reports, a man called 911 at about 8:36 p.m. on Tuesday, and reported the shooting. He told the Sheriff's Department that he shot the woman during a domestic dispute.

William Raymond Simons, 67, was arrested at the scene when deputies arrived, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.  His bond was set at $500,000.

Authorities had not yet released the victim’s name.
