A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Athens Independent School District will be Thursday at 6 p.m. in the District Support Center Board Room (104 Hawn St., Athens).
An executive session is scheduled to be held to consider a proposed non-renewal of the coordinator of Student Support Services contract due to a reduction in force based on programmatic change.
There will also be consideration of administrator contracts for 2013-2014 at the executive session, as well as consideration of employment and resignations.
Action items include consideration for a waiver for staff development and early release days, presented by Janie Sims, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
A consideration will also be given to the 2013-2014 school calendar presented by Superintendent Blake Stiles.
Randy Jones, chief financial officer, will present consideration for an appointment of an audit firm.
Technical Coordinator Stacy Dunacusky will present E-Rate purchases valued at more than $10,000, while Jones and Barry Choate will present a request for a sport-utility vehicle for the transportation fleet.
Among the items in the consent agenda will be financial statements for the month of January 2013. The board is also expected to formally call its election for May 11 to fill the expired terms of Raymond Williams, Place 5; David Freeman, Place 6; and Robert Spears, Place 7.
Trustees will also consider adoption of a resolution authorizing a joint election agreement between the City of Athens and Athens ISD.
Trustees will also consider adoption of new goals and adoption of TASB localized policy update 96.
Among information items will be the Athens ISD Integrated Improvement Plan, presented by Director of Federal Programs Diana Vaughn, and the Athens Middle School Improvement Plan, presented by Cedric Barrett and Shannon Pursley.
Also among information items will be Athens ISD 504 District Handbook and District Dyslexia Plan Updates, presented by Susan Lay.
An update on JIVE phone system will also be presented by Dunacusky.
February Teachers/Employees of the Month will also be recognized. They are Lisa Ford, Bel Air Elementary; Sarah Williams, South Athens Elementary; Audrey Thurston, Athens Intermediate School; Sarah Bradshaw, Athens Middle School; Phyllis Walker, Athens High School; Jennifer Gorell, CATE; Doris Garcia, operations. Presenters will be Sims and Risko.
