Paul String of String’s Guitar and Studio said he made the decision to have a “cooler version” of the traditional student recital.

“So we put a band together consisting of Cliff Penkert on lead guitar and vocals, Terry ‘TJ’ Jannasch on drums, Dave Beery on bass and myself on rhythm guitar, vocals, and decided to give the students their first time on stage and band experience,” String said.

String said he thought the Pavillion at the Arboretum would be perfect, so he contacted Teresa Glasgow at the Arboretum, learned of the Memorial and it's need, and immediately saw the possibility.

“My dad was a WWII vet, and I have two cousins who are veterans, one who served in Vietnam and one WWII,” String said.

String said everyone’s lives have been affected by our veterans and so many people immediately got on board to support such a great cause.
