The Athens Review
The Athens Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its annual Reindeer Games promotion, but with a few modifications.
Chamber Executive Director Sarah Heuber rolled out the new plan to a group gathered at the Athens Partnership Center Wednesday.
“It’s even bigger and better than it’s ever been before, but also a lot easier on you, the business owner,” Heuber said.
Reindeer Games is a competitive shopping game that allows dollars spent to be converted into points towards winning a cruise voucher worth $900, compliments of the Chamber and Sea The World Cruises.
For every $25 spent at one of the businesses, the shopper gets an entry for a prize drawing, which takes place each Friday in December. The games begin Nov. 23, and run through Dec. 24.
Last year, it cost the participating businesses $150 to participate. For 2012, that has been lowered to $50. The business must also provide a $25 gift certificate or gift item to give away at one of the drawings, Heuber said.
“The shopper can come to you, or the chamber, and pick up a map with the businesses listed on it,” Heuber said. “Attached to that map is the application form.”
There are also Rudolph Rewards Days, when the contestants can earn a bonus by shopping at a business designated for that day. There will be a maximum of three businesses holding a Rudolph Rewards Day on any single date.
“All double and triple-point days mean now, is that they come into your store, and spend $25, and it’s double point day. They now have two entries in the drawing. If it’s your triple-point day, they have three entries,” Heuber said.
Shoppers can easily find the participating businesses by looking for the reindeer on the map. They can also spot Reindeer Games posters on the doors or windows of the businesses taking part.
