Tuesday, Athens Police took an offense report from a grandmother in the Lake Ridge Apartments, who told officers she was beaten by family members in a dispute over her daughter's children.
Lt. Mike Davis said the case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division at APD.
The case is being investigated as an assault, and police are expecting to make arrests in the next few days.
• Officer's Dustin Cook and Jason McEntire arrested Rickey Jackson, 29, for possession of a controlled substance, over one gram, and below four grams.
• Officer James Graham took a report on a theft at Athens Personal Storage at 1505 E. Tyler St. from Shirley Spencer, 62. It was for more than $50, but less than $500. In addition, officer Graham took a report of a theft of over $500, but less than $1,500 from Karleen Selman.
• Brandon Nemons, 29, was arrested by Officer Billy Westover, and is accused of falsifying a drug test and tampering of fabricating physical evidence. Charges are pending.Athens police were called to 712 Ruth St. Tuesday after receiving a report of a man assaulting a woman.
Upon arrival they found Victoria Stoner, 34, with a badly-bruised face.
Otis L. Wilson, 57, a 6-feet-4-inch, 168-pound man, was arrested, and charged with the assault causing bodily injury to Stoner,
He was later released after posting a $500 bond.
