An explosion at a house in Cherokee Shores destroyed the residence and touched of a ball of flames that seriously burned two men inside the structure.
According to the Henderson County Fire Marshal’s Office, the injured men were transported by helicopter to the burn unit at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The identities of the injured men and their conditions were not available as of press time Tuesday afternoon.
According to Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reports, fire officials arrived at the location at about 11 p.m. and worked throughout the night. Officials returned to comb through the gutted structure Tuesday afternoon.
Interim Fire Marshal Shane Renberg is heading the investigation, but the cause of the explosion has not been determined. The Payne Springs Volunteer Fire Department responded to battle the blaze, which destroyed the home and scorched a “huge area” around the residence.
