The Henderson County Performing Arts Center, in conjunction with Document Solutions/Xerox, opens its 2013 Black Box Season with The Boys Club, an original play by Marjorie Bicknell.
The play opens on March 1 at 7:30 p.m. with additional shows on March 2, March 8 and March 9 at 7:30 and matinees at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, and Sunday, March 10. The theatre complex is located at 400 Gibson Road in Athens.
The Boys Club is one of five national winners of the original play competition sponsored by Texas Nonprofit Theatres. The five winning shows are produced by five different producing companies from the state of Texas. Ms. Bicknell’s show was selected by HCPAC to be produced.
The Boys Club, featuring Cassandra Schwantes and J Niswonger, follows the trial of a Boys Club owner that is accused of killing 14 boys from his club. The action takes place in his cell as he and his attorney hammer out his defense strategies. Did he kill them? You will have to come to the show to find out that answer.The show is directed by Dennis Gilmore.
