NETPHD to host H1N1 clinics

Special to the Review

Tyler – With the regular flu season on the horizon, it is a necessity for families to prepare for what the future will hold for influenza illness in East Texas.

The best way to protect you and your family against the flu is to receive your flu vaccination. Therefore, the Northeast Texas Public Health District (NETPHD) is encouraging the East Texas community to get the H1N1 vaccination.

“Since there has been a shortage of the seasonal flu vaccine in East Texas, due to the increased demand, we want to make sure that our community also received the H1N1 vaccination while it is still available.

Therefore, we have added more clinics times and locations throughout East Texas, and the vaccine is available to the general public,” said Harold Higgins, NETPHD Director of Preparedness and Immunizations.

In an effort to offer the vaccine to the public in Henderson and VanZandt counties, the following clinics have been established:

• Dec. 28, 9a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Multi-Purpose room, 101 E. Tyler St., Athens.

• Dec. 29, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Senior Citizens Building, 503 Terry St., Malakoff.

• Dec. 30, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., VZ County and Fairgrounds, Canton.

Please bring current Medicaid or Medicare cards, if available. However, there is no charge for the H1N1 vaccine if received through NETPHD.
