Athens Police Beat


The Athens Police Department reported the following activity Monday through Wednesday:

• Corporal Jason Bosher was dispatched to a burglary of a car wash in the 800 block of S. Palestine Street. Two coin machines were damaged and cash taken.

• Officer Dana Dykes took a report of a theft of copper cable from a building in the 1800 block of Flat Creek Road.

• Officer Dana Dykes spoke to a complainant in the 600 block of Walnut Circle who said a burglar had entered his residence and stolen a lap top and other items.

• Officer Dana Dykes was dispatched to a criminal mischief complaint at Cain Park in the 800 block of Robbins Road.

• Sgt. Brett Morman met with a complainant at police headquarters concerning debit card abuse. The woman said it was removed from her purse and used three times.

• Corporal Jason Bosher worked a wreck with minor injuries involving a car and an 18 wheeler in the 1200 block of Loop 7.

• Officer Jason Bosher arrested Cynthia Smith for theft ($50 to $500) at the Save-a-Lot in the 500 block of S. Palestine Street. The woman was captured after a brief chase through the neighborhood. Smith was released after posting $2,000 on a motion to proceed with adjudication of guilt.

• Corporal Roger Keith arrested a 27-year-old man following a traffic stop. Jarod Brock Mills was booked into county jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
