Traffic stop brings arrests for meth
An attempted traffic stop by a Chandler policeman Sunday afternoon, triggered a 2-county chase Sunday ending with the arrest of a 41-year-old man.
Marvin Louis Thompson was booked into the Henderson County Jail on charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, possession of a marijuana (less than two ounces), possession of a controlled substance (less than one ounce) and various traffic violations. Bond set for Thompson totalled $24,000.
Chandler Police Department Officer Alexander attempted to stop Thompson’s vehicle, then called the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department for assistance.
Deputy Kevin Adair joined Alexander as he pursued Thompson across the Van Zandt County line. Thompson circled back into Henderson County, and re-entered Chandler where the vehicle came to a stop on Edgar Street.
Alexander approached the vehicle, and spoke to Thompson who identified himself.
The officer discovered that Thompson was driving without a valid license, and had been arrested in 1998 on the charge.
Alexander checked the vehicle, and learned that Thompson was in possession of marijuana and cocaine.
Thompson had previous arrests: in 2000 for theft ($20,000 to $100,000); in 2007 for possession of a controlled substance, (4 grams to 200 grams); and in 2008 for possession of a controlled substance, (4 grams to 200 grams).
Thompson was transported to Henderson County Jail where he was arraigned by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Sue Tarrant.
