Athens — The Keep Athens Beautiful Home and Garden Show is coming to the Cain Center on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The annual event will have everything participants need to make a home and landscaping more beautiful and appealing.

The show will provide visitors with resources for remodeling a home, landscaping a yard and living a more healthy lifestyle.

Stephen Gent, owner of McDade’s Nursery in Tool, will host a mini-workshop titled “Ready, Set, Spring.” Gent has more than 14 years experience in horticulture. An avid gardener with a lifelong passion for plants, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others.

That’s not the only big event KAB has planned for this month. Former TV news meteorologist Rebecca Miller will conduct her “Organically Speaking” event on Thursday, Feb. 21. She will be offering information regarding the benefit of living organically.

Miller,  a Master Gardner, co-hosts “Living Naturally First” on WBAP radio. In addition to her speaking engagement on Thursday, Miller will host a mini-workshop on organic gardening during the Home and Garden Show on Saturday.

Chef Amanda Love will prepare an organic dinner for those who attend.

Love, also known as the Barefoot Chef, says she teaches families, farmers and freedom-seeking food lovers how to reclaim the power of simple, nourishing cooking that leads to happier and more harmonious lives.

Love is a natural-foods chef and nutrition educator who passionately shares her love of cooking, and healing with nourishing foods.

She emphasizes eating fresh, local, seasonal, organic and nutrient-rich food, and teaches people how to easily integrate these kinds of foods into their everyday diet to obtain and maintain optimal health.

KAB Executive Director, Carol Morton said, “We currently have about 30 to 35 vendors  who will be at the show. We still have a few booths available.”

Some of the major sponsors for the event are Cole Air Conditioning and Appliances, KCKL Radio, Redline Power Equipment, Phoenix Landscaping and Sears Home Town Store.

There are different levels of sponsorship, from $100 to $1,000.

“We are still in need of sponsorships,” Morton said.

Tickets for “Organically Speaking” can be  purchased for $25. Call the KAB to purchase tickets.

The Home and Garden Show on Saturday is free to the public.
