Athens — A Mabank couple has been arrested and charged with attempting to sell a one-month-old child.

Randall Scott Bonneville, 24, and Heather Janette Wall, 25, are currently being held in Henderson County Justice Center. Each has been charged with attempting to sell a child, a third-degree felony, and are being held without bond.

Bonneville is the biological father of the child, according to court documents. Wall is said to be his girlfriend.

Documents state the couple took the child from its biological mother without her consent when the child was one week-old. The child was placed back in custody of the biological mother by Child Protective Services.

Bonneville and Wall were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 16, by members of the Hood County Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Texas Rangers.

An investigation began in Grandbury on Jan. 14 when a Hood County resident reported that both suspects were offering  a one-month-old child for adoption in exchange for money.

According to law enforcement records, the two suspects were located in an apartment complex in Mabank, and were arrested without incident. The baby was unharmed.

Henderson County District Attorney Scott McKee said he was briefed on the case early last week by the Texas Rangers. McKee said his office will provide any assistance necessary to Hood County, up to and including prosecution of any crimes that may have occurred in Henderson County.

Hood County District Attorney Robert Christian said the investigation was conducted rapidly and aggressively to ensure the safety and welfare of the child.

“The investigation spanned multiple jurisdictions, and everyone worked tirelessly to see that the child was safe,” Christian said in a press release issued Wednesday.

Hood County Sheriff's Department deputies are expected to  transport Bonneville and Wall to Hood County to face charges within the week.
