29th annual PRCA Stampede Rodeo tonight

Athens — The 29th annual Profes­sional Rodeo Cowboys Association Stampede Rodeo is scheduled to start tonight and conclude with a concert Saturday.

Hosted by the Athens Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by Elder Chrysler-RAM-Jeep, the 29th annual PRCA Stampede Rodeo promises to be one of the most exciting yet.

Contestants compete in events including Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Calf Roping, the popular 21 and Older Women's Calf Scramble and Bull Riding.

In addition to the rodeo, there will be a Go Texan Barbecue Cook-Off on Saturday.

Following the rodeo on Saturday night at the Henderson County Fairpark Complex will be entertainment provided by The Wesley Pruitt Band, which is free with purchase of a rodeo ticket.

Tickets available at Elder Dodge, Cavender's, Citizen's National Bank, First State Bank or the Athens Chamber of Commerce, located at 201 W. Corsicana St.

Gates open each night at 5 p.m., and the rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m.

Pre-sale tickets are $10, while tickets are $12 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 4 to 12 are $5. Group discounts are available.
