An open casting call for the upcoming feature film, “Hellion,” by award winning Texas director Kat Candler and Executive Producer Jeff Nichols will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 21 and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at Underground MX Park, located at 7353 Farm-to-Market 3396 in Kemp. Auditions will be held in the trailer next to RV spot No. 14.
The film is searching for imaginative and spirited boys, ages eight to 16. The boys will be considered for lead roles in the film. No experience is necessary.
“Hellion” is a father-and-son story about a family struggling with the death of their mother. It will be shot in southeast Texas at the end of the summer.
The film was developed in part by the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program. Director Kat Candler’s films have screened at festivals such as Sundance, SXSW and Slamdance. Her latest short film, “Black Metal,” premiered at Sundance 2013.
“Hellion” is produced by Kelly Williams, a film festival programmer and producer. Williams is a 2012 Sundance Creative Producing Fellow.
Executive Producer Jeff Nichols is writer and director of “Mud,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon.
