The Athens Review
The Athens Police Department investigated a burglary at a local business on Thursday that was later linked to a Gun Barrel City arrest.
According to APD reports, a store official at Athens Park homes contacted APD at 7:20 a.m. and told dispatch that someone had broken into the shop at the business, located at 3400 W. Corsicana St. Officer Michael Reynolds responded to the call, and took a report concerning the break-in. The complainant told police that unidentified individuals entered the business and took five rolls of copper wire and two saws. Theft of copper is a state jail felony.
Later, Thursday, APD learned that the Gun Barrel City Police Department arrested two individuals for existing warrants. When GBC took the men into custody, they found items in their possession that had been reported stolen from the Athens business. GBC logged the items into evidence. The case remains under investigation.
