The Athens Review
At the Thursday meeting of Athens Independent School District, it was announced that a check will be presented to AISD soon.
For 2012 advertising revenues on the sign, AISD should receive a check for $1,243.43 from Daktronics Sports Marketing. That is AISD’s share of all revenue above the breakeven line. The district get 60 percent above that total.
Daktronics is responsible for selling ads posted on the sign, and were the original purchasers of the sign for the district.
In other agenda items, AISD trustees postponed a hearing for the Optional Flexible School Day Program, along with approving application for the progam.
Action items passed included NCS Pearson AIMSWeb renewal, Region VII ESC 2013-2014 contract. Also passed were revisions to the grading policy.
In the area of information/discussion items, trustees discussed setting the tax rate hearing for Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. That rate will be published in the Athens Daily Review as a Public Notice close to that time.
One other item that surprised some trustees on the AISD board, and angered others was a compilation of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) scores. They were lower than were anticipated by board members. Receiving more information about the scores and reaction to them in the weekend edition of the Athens Daily Review.
