Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies investigating thefts in the Athens area arrested a 30-year-old man on a narcotics charge on Thursday, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reports said.
Marshall Edward Arlie was booked into the Henderson County Jail for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, with bond set at $5,000. The offense is a second-degree felony.
According to information from the HCSO, Investigators Billy Jack Valentine and Michael Shelley were in the Athens area when they saw a vehicle that they recognized as one that might have been connected to a previously reported theft. When the investigators saw the driver commit traffic violations, they conducted a stop.
Arlie was a passenger in the vehicle. A check of Arlie revealed that he had outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Athens Police Department. He was placed in custody for the warrants.
Officers searched the vehicle and located a quantity of methamphetamine in the pocket of a jacket belonging to Arlie. The methamphetamine charge was added to his previous offenses.
