On Saturday, March 30, Officer Jesse Ison with the Gun Barrel City Police Department recognized Louis Wayne Rodriguez of Gun Barrel City operating a motor vehicle. Ison knew the subject has a suspended drivers license.
Ison attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle that Rodriguez was operating. Rodriguez attempted to elude Ison. The subject then came to a stop in the 200 block of Lake Shadows Drive. Officer Ison took Rodriguez into custody.
The officer discovered that Rodriguez attempted to dispose of 5.2 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine just before Ison took custody of Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance over four grams and under 200 grams, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Evading Arrest and Detention with a motor vehicle.
Rodriguez is being held in Henderson County Jail with a total of $65,000 in bonds.
Assisting Ison were Sgt. Richard Widener and Officer Zachary Kennedy of the Gun Barrel City Police Department, along with Trooper Joe Gomez of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
