Expired inspection sticker leads to arrest

Athens — Caney City Police arrested a man for methampetamine possession following a traffic stop, Friday.

Earnest Lynn Feagins was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram).

The offense is a state jail felony, punishable by up to two years in prison, and a fine of up to $10,000.

He was released Friday after posting bond of $5,500.

Caney City Police Department reports indicate that Jason Perrini stopped a green van on State Highway 198 near Kamman’s Exxon for an expired registration sticker.

He approached the vehicle and  made contact with Feagins of Malakoff, who was driving the vehicle.

Police reports indicate that Perrini contacted the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office dispatch. A computer check was conducted that revealed an active warrant for assault causing bodily injury for Feagins.

Feagins was arrested on this warrant, and a search of his vehicle revealed a small baggie with a crystalline substance, which when field-tested, showed to be positive for methamphetamine.

Also on the floorboard was found a 35 MM film case which also contained methamphetamine.

Feagins was transported to the Henderson County Jail, where he was booked on the charges.
