DEU arrests two on drug charges

The Henderson County Drug Enforcement Unit made two arrests in unrelated cases this week.

Bill D. Monday, 24, was booked into the Henderson County Jail Wednesday night on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, between one and four ounces. He was released Thursday after posting a $5,000 bond. On, Thursday, Brenda Faye Donnell, 44, was charged with possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.

Donell posted $1,000 bond and was released.

Monday’s arrest came after DEU investigators received a call reporting a man driving a blue Chevrolet Blazer broke out the back glass at the Valero station at the intersection of Texas Highway 31E and Farm-to-Market Road 2495 and was selling drugs there. Investigators Ronny Halbert, David Faught, Darrell Waller and Kenneth Collard responded to the call and saw a man matching the description in front of the vehicle.

HCSO reports stated the Investigators approached Monday, who surrendered a black zipper bag containing a quantity of methamphetamine, baggies and a spoon used to package illegal narcotics. Investigators also obtained consent to search the Blazer. Inside they found a pair of digital scales used to measure narcotics for packaging and distribution.

Early Thursday, DEU officers executed a search warrant in the 600 block of York Street in, Athens. Investigators discovered a quantity of marijuana at the residence. Officers arrested Donnell at the scene and transported her to jail.

Sheriff Ray Nutt said the investigation is continuing and more charges could be filed in relation to the case.
