County approves HCSO request

The Henderson County Commissioners Court approved a contract between the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Leads Online L.L.C., a web-based investigation system.

The cost of the $2,600 contract will be paid by the District Attorney’s Office.

Captain Kay Langford said the service will aid in investigations. For example a law enforcement department that subscribes to the Dallas-based service can use it to help recover stolen property.

The database will allow the sheriff’s office to check pawnshops nationwide in the amount of time it would take to telephone a few local ones.

In other action, Commissioners decided not to employ an architectural firm to design and construct a new County Annex for Poynor. Commissioners met in a workshop Friday to discuss construction of a building that would house a courtroom and about three small offices.

Commissioners heard presentations from two architectural firms interested in building the subcourthouse. Mark Thatcher of Sinclair Wright, of Tyler and Michael Limebeck of JMK Architects, of Jacksonville pitched for the project.

Commissioners placed $100,000 in the 2009 budget in anticipation of the upgrade.

Other votes by the Commissioners included:

• accepting a $180 donation for flowers to be planted at the Henderson County Justice Center;

• denying requests from Embarq concerning damage claims for Henderson County Precinct 2;

• a bid of $4,000 to paint the county shop building and

• payment of bills in the amount of $230,757.
