Chandler Pow-Wow set for Oct. 11

Special to the Review

The tribes are meeting at Chandler’s Pow-Wow festival on Saturday, Oct. 11.

A parade will kick off the festivities at Winchester Park at 10 a.m.

This year’s Pow-Wow parade theme is “Educational Excellence by BISD Teachers and Administrators.” Brownsboro ISD Superintendent Elton Caldwell will be the grand marshal who leads the band drill teams, dance troupes, churches, ball teams and floats. According to the Chandler Chamber of Commerce newsletter, a few vintage tractors might make it into the line up, as well.

After the parade, several booths will be set up for shopping. The booths will have artists, craftsmen, seamstresses, cooks and “professional folks ready to entice everyone.”

Of course a Pow-Wow wouldn’t be the same if it didn’t have a great lineup of food.

Once the booths have closed, inflatable balloons and jump houses will be blown up for the “young and young in heart.” Live music will also be provided.
