Athens — Athens resident Stacey Elfarr has seen the ups-and-downs of life as a single mother of two children.

One of her biggest passions is the Brickyard Outdoor Training Facility that she runs through her house on South Prairieville Street.

She said her idea for the facility came about two years ago.

“I started the program and called it Fit with Stacey. It started with about 10 clients and never planned on doing more than 10 or 15,” Elfarr said. “I bought the house across the street, and it had a small studio in the back. I poured concrete, and built it up to a small training facility.”

Elfarr has a degree from East Carolina University and is a certified personal trainer through the Cooper Institute in Dallas.

“We do infusion, and I take elements from a lot of different types of workouts. I am crossfit-certified as well, and I believe a lot in certification. I also take some elements from body-building, and I am about to be kettlebell-certified.”

Elfarr will travel to Nashville, Tenn. in January to begin that certification.

Right now, the Brickyard has 46 clients that attend classes on Monday-through-Friday. Elfarr said she teaches a morning and afternoon session.

“I am looking at all age groups of all different levels,” Elfarr said. “No one feels left out, and it is an hour with body-building and cardio.”

She said dealing with postpartum depression after the birth of her second kid, she used her situation to help others dealing with stress in their lives.

“I want my clients to feel good about themselves, and we are a big family,” Elfarr said. “My clients are my family, and I am very passionate about empowering people to feel strong.”

Elfarr said her faith has also played a major role in how she conducts her training facility, and finding ways to help empower her clients to follow their passion.

“I am so very blessed to be able to make a career out of something that I truly love,” Elfarr said. “To be able to make a difference in the health of others and share my passion is a dream-come-true for me. This is truly a gift from God.”
