Wreck killed co-owner of County Oaks Golf Course

Athens — A Tyler man has been indicted in connection to the death of the co-owner of Country Oaks Golf Course in Cross Roads.

Eduardo Flores, 23, has been indicted by the Smith County grand jury for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault in connection to a November 2012 wreck that killed Nancy Dale Slagle, 73. Her husband, Gene, was seriously injured in the wreck and is still working to recover from his injuries.

Mrs. Slagle was killed at the scene of the wreck, which happened on Highway 271 in Tyler. According to police reports, Flores’ truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Slagles’ vehicle. All traffic on the highway had to be rerouted due to the severity of the wreck.
