Three suspects remained in jail Thursday following a Henderson County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a March 13 burglary on Farm-to-Market 2709 near Eustace.
Harley Ray Stephens, 21, of Gun Barrel City was booked into the Henderson County Jail Tuesday for burglary of a habitation and theft of property. Bond on Stephens was set at $30,000.
Stephen Joe Clowdus, 31, of Mabank was arrested Tuesday for burglary with bond set at $15,000.
Amber Suzanne Schlicht, 28, of Forney was arrested March 14 for theft of property and two warrants for motion to revoke community supervision on previous theft charges. Total bond on Schlicht was $5,750.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sheriff Ray Nutt saw a car on March 13 parked off FM 2709. Nutt made contact with the driver of the suspicious vehicle and saw several items of property in the back of the car. The occupants identified themselves as Stephens and Clowdus.
According to reports, two hours after Nutt’s contact with the suspects, sheriff’s office Sgt. Mitch Baker was dispatched to a burglary of a habitation call from a residence on FM 2709. The complainant described the stolen property as matching the items Nutt had seen earlier.
Investigator Billy Jack Valentine was assigned the case and obtained warrants on Stephens and Clowdus for burglary of a habitation. The following day Valentine and HCSO investigators saw the suspect’s vehicle occupied with two women. One of the women, Schlicht, was found to have existing theft-related warrants and was arrested at the scene.
On Tuesday, according to reports, investigators learned the whereabouts of Stephens and went to the Tamarack subdivision in Gun Barrel City to locate him. Investigators arrested Stephens at the residence and also discovered a Triumph motorcycle that had been reported missing by the Garland Police Department.
Tuesday night, investigators located Clowdus in Kaufman County at a residence on County Road 4008 near Mabank. Officers from the HCSO, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Kaufman County Constable Precinct 4 and Mabank Police Depart-ment arrested the suspect.
They also discovered a second motorcycle that had been reported stolen in Garland, as well a small amount of methamphetamine.
