Athens — A luncheon planned to raise money to support the Henderson County Clint W. Murchison Memorial Library is scheduled for Friday, April 12, at noon at the Cain Center in Athens. The featured author is Kathleen Kent.

Created around the theme Books in Bloom, the luncheon is sponsored by a committee drawn from members of book clubs in Henderson County.  Tickets are priced at $40 and $25.

The higher-priced tickets include admission to a reception to meet the author at 11 a.m. before the luncheon. To purchase a ticket, send a check made out to Public Library Fund, Inc., to Dianne Neill at 2419 CR 3800, Athens, TX 75752. Deadline for reservations is April 1.

Proceeds from the luncheon will be used to support more programming at the library, such as after-school reading activities and a teen book club.

Money will also go toward purchasing books, upgrading office computers and printers, and improving the environment outside the library.

Kent will speak on her historical novel, “The Heretic’s Daughter,” about the Salem witch trials. Her book was inspired by family stories of an ancestor who was involved in the trials.

Underwriting support for the Books in Bloom luncheon is provided by the Ginger Murchison Foundation and the Cain Foundation.
