Athens —
Arthur Hall will be the speaker at the fund-raiser meeting of the Henderson County Literary Society at 2 p.m. on March 26 in the Woman’s Building at the Arboretum.
His topic will be the Grigsby League Land Dispute and how for over 30 years it affected downtown Dallas in getting the land titles cleared. History of this time period will be shared and you will be surprised by some of the information and understand why some things are as they are today in Dallas by learning this history.
Mr. Hall is a most interesting speaker and can make history come alive with his presentations. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, a sixth-generation Texan, retired president of Southwestern Management and Research Corp. and a retired U.S. Navy Captain, having served 33 years in naval aviation and naval intelligence. Mr. Hall is a former member of the Texas Historical Commission and former Chairman of the Henderson County Historical Commission.
Active in lineage societies, Mr. Hall is a member of the Huguenot Society, The Sons of the Republic of Texas, Descendants of Mexican War Veterans and The Sons of the American Revolution. He is past president of the Athens Chapter of the SAR and has served several terms as Texas State Registrar for the SAR.
The Literary Society thinks it has chosen a most interesting and informative speaker for its fund-raiser meeting and everyone is invited (that means men, also).
A donation of $5 to our Speaker’s Fund is the cost of meeting. If you attended our Fund Raiser’s Day last year we are certain you will enjoy this meeting just as much.
After the meeting you will have a chance to talk personally to Mr. Hall and enjoy refreshments.
