Athens —
If you have a repair, or a new construction project, or even financing for it all, you might want to mark your calendar for the 2nd Annual Home Improvement Show at the Cain Center.
The show is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to organizer Pat Gresham, the inaugural event was a huge success.
“This was one of the best things we did last year,” he said. “People told me they were able to find builders for their remodel, and products they need for their projects, and even advice on how to do it. This is a really good thing for our residents.”
More than 30 venders are scheduled to be at this year’s show, including construction companies, pool builders, real estate companies, banks, home decorators, paint specialists and much more.
“We have even scheduled a food vender for the day,” Gresham said. “People can come and enjoy the show, have lunch and look around some more. We wanted to make it easy on people who come in the middle of the day.”
The show is free to the public.
“This is one of our fund raisers,” Gresham said. “We didn’t want to charge people to come. We are being supported by the venders, and it is growing.”
Gresham said he has about seven or eight booths left, but they are going fast. Businesses interested need to call him at 903-677-2000 for a spot.
“We are going to give away door prizes throughout the day from the venders, and people who need to build new, or restore the freshness, or just recreate a different place, need to come out.”
Some of the local businesses appearing are Cole Air Conditioning and Appliance Center, Field Stone, Athens Organic just to name a few.
Other construction contractors such as painters, welders, roofers and landscapers will all be on hand to help you with your needs.
Other events coming up in November is the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day and the Athens Chamber of Commerce’s Home for the Holidays.
