Athens — The Athens Police Department is investigating several windows that an Athens business reported broken out on vehicles parked at the location between closing time Wednesday and when employees arrived on Thursday.

The damage was done to company vehicles that were kept in an enclosed area on the property at AG Services, in the 400 block of Underwood Street. The company deals in farm and gardening products.

Detective Cpl. James Bonnette went to the location and took a report from the owner of the business for criminal mischief between $1,500 and $20,000. The offense is a state jail felony, and carries a possible sentence of 180 days to two years upon conviction.

Lt. Bill Gurley said it appeared that someone had climbed over the fence into the area where the vehicles were parked and broke the windows with a board. APD is attempting to develop leads in the case.
