Gun Barrel City and particularly Mickie Raney, City Treasurer for GBC, have gone all out for the 2013 July Fest. Raney says the show will be bigger and better than ever. Raney starts planning July Fest as soon as the current July Fest ends.
This year, she was able to recruit two top performers. Kevin Fowler a Texas native, born in Amarillo, is an American Texas Country Artist. Fowler sings hits such as “Hell yeah I Like Beer,” “That Girl” and “Hard Man to Love.”
According to the singer's bio, he has written for artists such as Sammy Kershaw, Mark Chesnutt and Montgomery Gentry. Information on Fowler can be found at www.kenvinfowler.com
Fowler will appear in the Gun Barrel City Amphitheater on July 6 at 8:30 p.m.
Raney was once again this year able to secure Vanilla Ice at the July Fest. Vanilla Ice, born in Dallas, is an American Rapper. Raised in Texas and Florida, he released his first album, “Hooked,” in 1989. In his younger years, Vanilla Ice competed in motocross, winning three titles at the Grand National Championships in Dallas.
In addition to singing, Vanilla Ice has appeared in a number of movies.
Vanilla Ice, best known for his hit, “Ice Ice Baby,” will take to the stage at the July Fest on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. To find out other songs the singer performs, check out his website at www.vanillaice.com
Other performers will be local 9 year-old Kemp resident Kadie Lynn and Derek Sholl.
The festival will be a 3-day event starting on Thursday, July 4.
