Athens — The Athens Police Department arrested a 23-year-old man  Thursday night, after officers responded to a disturbance call at an apartment.

Kirk Oneal Jackson was booked into the Henderson County Jail for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance (one gram to four grams), in a drug-free zone.

Jackson remained in jail on Friday afternoon, with bond set at $10,000. Manufacture/delivery of a substance within that range is a second-degree felony with a possible sentence of two to 20 years in a state prison and a possible fine of not more than $10,000.

APD received a call at 11:53 p.m. from the complainant, who said she and Jackson were arguing and he had refused to leave. Officer Marshall Passons was dispatched to the location.

He was later joined by Sgt. Jason McEntire, Officer Dustin Cook, Officer Stewart Garret and Cpl. Dana Dykes. Jackson was arrested and transported to the Henderson County Justice Center.
