Athens High School graduate Gary McCauley and his family will appear on the popular game show, “Family Feud.”
The show is scheduled to run Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on KDAF CW Channel 9 locally.
“It is one of the most scary and fun times that you could have,” said McCauley, who now lives in Dallas. “It is a total blast.”
McCauley, a 1964 graduate of Athens High School, said he competed alongside his son, daughter, his wife Becky and her mom.
The show was taped in August of last year, and McCauley said the family is hoping to return to the show this spring.
“We are hoping that we get to return to the Tournament of Champions,” McCauley said. “We are at the top of the list for that competition.”
He said the producer of the show paid to fly the family to and from Atlanta for the taping.
Contestants are allowed to have a practice round prior to the taping of the show, according to McCauley.
He said host Steve Harvey will visit with the crowd during commercial breaks and tell jokes to the crowd.
“He is a great guy and one of the funniest guys that you could meet,” McCauley said. “He is an extraordinary individual and a great guy to be around.”
This won’t be McCauley’s first experience on the show.
“We were on the Feud back in ’89 when my sister was Miss Texas and Richard Dawson was doing it,” McCauley. “We got beat on the last question and it was a great experience.”
