Athens — KAUFMAN COUNTY — On January 2 at approximately  12:12 p.m., Kaufman County sheriff’s deputies responded to a trespasser call on County Road 4101 located off FM 1390 just south of Highway 175.

After checking the residence to make sure it was secure, the caller gave a description of the vehicle and its occupants that had left the scene. Around the same time, another call came in regarding a residence alarm in the 3000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1390. Deputies found the back door of the residence kicked in, but the residence had not been entered.

Deputies en route to yet another residence alarm call noticed a vehicle matching the description of the one called in from the earlier trespasser call on the eastbound service road of U.S. Highway 175 and proceeded to execute a traffic stop. When the information came back from the 911 operators, deputies discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Dallas.

As another team of deputies arrived at a residence alarm call in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 175, the home owner stated she had only been gone about 30 minutes before returning to find her back door kicked in and her home burglarized.

The stolen belongings were recovered during the earlier traffic stop made on the three suspects identified from the trespasser call.

Arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and burglary of a habitation was Juan Luis Garza, 26, of Dallas. Garza was also wanted on two warrants out of the Irving Police Department. Jesus Johnathan Garza, 21, of Pleasant Grove was arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation, and he also had an outstanding warrant from Balch Springs Police Department. Michael Lawrence Williams, 33, of Dallas was arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation.

Kaufman County Sheriff David Byrnes said, “Once again neighbors helping law enforcement and watching out for one another is helping to keep our county safer.”
