Community Christmas Concert coming

Athens — More than 100 choir members from seven organizations in the Cedar Creek Lake area have been preparing for several weeks for the upcoming Community Christmas Concert to be held at the Mabank High School auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m.  

Admission is a canned good item for donation to the Family Resource Centers.

The concert will feature the Christmas Cantata, Season of Praise, by Joseph M. Martin, with narration by special guest Gloria Campos, veteran television news anchor at WFAA Television in Dallas.

Children from the Dance Connection of Mabank will be showcased in the cantata performance.

The Bell Choir from Payne Springs United Methodist Church and the Celebration Ensemble from Celebration on the Lake Church will also perform. During the concert, the audience will have a chance to join in singing familiar Christmas carols. This is a program that the entire family will enjoy.

The Community Choir is composed of singers from Aley United Methodist Church, Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, Celebration on the Lake Church, First United Methodist Church of Mabank, First Presbyterian Church of Mabank, Payne Springs United Methodist Church and the Avanti Singers.  Randy Dobbs, music director of Celebration on the Lake Church is conductor of the chorus, Jim Gribben is program coordinator.  

Roger Grandchampt is featured flute soloist. Tim Danielson, organist at Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church has served as rehearsal accompanist for the choir.

Everyone in the greater Cedar Creek Lake area is invited to attend this concert which is offered as a gift to the community.
