Niki Killingsworth, a registered nurse for East Texas Medical Center in Athens, is seeking the position of Place 6 on the Athens Independent School District Board of Trustees.
The election is May 11.
Killingsworth is a deacon at The General Assembly Church of the Living God in Athens. He has an Associate of Science from Trinity Valley Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler.
He is the parent of three AISD children.
Included in his experience is 11 years in the lab at Malakoff Industries; Sunday school superintendent at Church of the Living God, P.G.T.; co-director of Unity in the Community; 116 hours of community nursing; church youth director; and chairperson of USWA Local 746L for nine years. He also holds a mentor certificate and volunteers with and tutors youth.
Killingsworth said he brings many qualities to the district. He said he will show genuine compassion for all, and stated he is willing to work with every socio-economic class. He added that he will be a strong advocate for all students, an active community member and a voice for equality.
“I will be a sincere voice for all parents and students in the community,” he said.
