The Cedar Creek Veterans Foundation has announced George Prescott Bush, grandson of George H. Bush and nephew of George W. Bush and son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, has agreed to play in its May 6 golf tournament.
Bush is a decorated Navy veteran with a tour of duty in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. According to the foundation, Bush is acutely aware of the needs of veterans, the serving military and their families. Bush is about to take a swing at Texas politics, as he has thrown his hat in the ring to run for land commissioner.
Additionally, he is a Fort Worth attorney whose mother, Columba Bush, is originally from Mexico. According to the Wall Street Journal and other national media outlets, Bush is considered a rising star among conservative Hispanics.
He has asked CCVF to auction the three remaining spots on his golf team to the highest bidder. A player can register their team at www.ccveteransfoundation.org or call Gayle Robinson 903-451-5054.
The golf tournament which includes a lunch, is being held in conjunction with Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake, which will be held on July 6 at Pinnacle Golf and Boat Club. CCVF will be honor local veterans Corporal Terry Massey, USMC, who spent 36 days on Iwo Jima. Master Chief Petty Officer Garrett O. Smith, USN and Lt. James D. Ragsdale, USN before the tournament starts.
Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake is the only air show held over water in the Henderson County area. The show can been seen from a boat on the lake or the banks of the Pinnacle Club, which offers reserved seating.
CCVF raises money to benefit the Navy and Marine Relief Society, the Dallas Fisher House and Hope for the Warriors.
