The Athens Police Department arrested two men, while another fled, as officers responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint, Friday.
Henry Plangiman, 21, was booked into the Henderson County Jail for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
Jermaine Ruching, 27, was booked for driving without a valid license. The APD will file charges with the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office against a 21-year-old subject who fled the scene.
According to APD reports, a call came in shortly after midnight from Global Gas Station in the 600 block of North Palestine Street, reporting a suspicious vehicle. The caller said four males were hanging around in a white Mercury, while the store was closing for the night.
Sgt. Jason McEntire responded to the call, and approached the vehicle. Plangiman and Ruching were arrested, while another occupant exited the vehicle and ran. The person who fled was described as wearing a blue T-shirt and khaki pants.
Patrolman Josh Beaty, Patrolman Dustin Cook, Patrolman Marshall Passons and Cpl. Dana Dykes assisted in the search for the suspect. The incident remains under investigation.
