Athens — Athens High School’s 2013 Homecoming festivities will offer plenty of activities for students, former students, parents and fans.

Preparations have been underway for the game, when the cross-county rival Mabank Panthers come to challenge the Hornets on Friday night.

The Homecoming parade Thursday night embarks from Athens High School on a journey that will take it around the Henderson County Courthouse square, on a treck back to the campus.

The parade, which has drawn hundreds of spectators in previous years will precede the bonfire and pep-rally by the school.

The Homecoming game was set later in the year this season and the weather will give the spectators more of an Autumn feel for the festivities. With a high in the low 70s predicted and overnight lows dipping to the 50s it should offer an appropriate setting for the contest.

Game-day activities start at 4 p.m., Friday with the Homecoming Countdown at Hornet Plaza.
