The Athens Review

Athens — Home For The Holidays, an Athens Chamber of Commerce sponsored event, is less than a week away.  Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 8, for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this special opportunity to shop til you drop!

“Home For The Holidays is an excellent opportunity for shoppers to purchase from local retailers, restaurants and individuals at this one-stop-shopping event during the holiday season,” said Sarah Hueber, Athens Chamber of Commerce President.

Hueber stated that not only are retails and food items popular at this annual event, but so are home-crafts such as pillow cases, lotions, Christmas Décor, Christmas ornaments, soaps and jewelry.

This year, the annual Home For The Holiday event features 42  booths for shoppers to make purchases from. Additionally, shoppers have an opportunity to “Shop Reindeer Games,” and be entered for a chance to win a cruise.

“Shoppers can be entered into our annual cruise drawing at participating Reindeer Games locations during Home for The Holidays,” said Hueber. “During VIP Shopping, which is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., for every $25 spent, shoppers will receive three entries into the cruise drawing.”

During General Admission Shopping from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for every $25 spent, shoppers will receive two entries for the cruise drawing. The Reindeer Games Cruise drawing will be held Jan. 7, and the winner will be announced at the Chamber Banquet on Jan. 18.

Additional activities during Home For The Holidays include a VIP Breakfast and Shopping from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with the cost being $10 per ticket. General Shopping will be $5, and take place from 10  a.m. to 3  p.m.   Tickets can be purchased at The Athens Chamber of Commerce at 201 W. Corsicana St., or on the day of the event at The Athens Cain Center.

Hueber stated that VIP Tickets are limited to 150 people, and should be purchased in advance, if possible.

Hueber also stated many additional activities will be taking place during the annual event.

The City of Athens Fire Department will be collecting  Toys For Tots during Home For The Holidays. Each individual bringing a toy to Home For The Holidays gets a free picture with Santa.

Pictures with Santa will be priced at $5 each for anyone wishing to make additional picture purchases.  Door prizes will be given out throughout the day to shoppers.

Additionally, Holiday Craft and Cooking Demonstrations will be available at various times to provide suggestions for making the 2012 Holiday Season a perfect one for everyone to enjoy.

At 11:30 a.m. a style show by Kathy’s Boutique will take place to demonstrate all the latest winter and holiday fashions.
