Athens — The Athens Police Department is looking for leads in the burglary of a gas station convenience store. The break-in was discovered by a store clerk who reported to work at about 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Ptl. William Carlow was dispatched to the Chevron Friendly No. 2 at 613 East Corsciana St., along with Sgt. Brett Morman and Det. Adam Parkins. Store officials told the officers that cash and some lottery tickets were  missing.

According to police reports, the burglars were able to get inside the store. Police checked the store video-surveillance footage, and saw two men in the building.

The video images showed that the men were wearing dark clothing, but their faces were not clear enough to help identify the intruders.

The case has been forwarded  to the Criminal Investigations Division for follow-up.

The Chevron station was burglarized before in 2009, when someone drove a pickup through the front of the business, doing substantial damage.
