The Athens Review
Athens Police Department officers arrested a 24-year-old man Wednesday after receiving a call from a Hodge Court resident reporting a theft taking place at a residence.
Jonathan Dewayne Adams was booked into the Henderson County Jail for criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released after posting $3,250 bond.
APD reports said the caller told the dispatcher that she had been watching a man taking things from the shed at a residence across the street and was putting them in his car.
Detective William Carlow arrived at the residence one minute later, followed by other APD officers. Officers arrested Adams without incident and, while searching him, found a pipe in his pocket of a type that is often used to smoke controlled substances.
The pipe was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.
Lt. Bill Gurley said because the original call was turned in as a burglary-in-progress, six officers, including Carlow, Detective Sergeant Don Yarbrough, Detective Adam Parkins, Detective Michael Reynolds, Corporal Billy Westover and Officer James Graham, were dispatched to the location.
