Athens — The Athens Police Department arrested a 28-year-old man on West Corsicana Street Monday night after discovering marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Clyde Eugene Joliff, was booked Tuesday morning for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and held without bond for driving without a valid license. Bond on the marijuana charge was set at $2,000. Joliff remained in custody at press time Tuesday afternoon.

According to Athens Police Department reports, Officer Wesley Hoover conducted a stop on a silver Honda Prelude in the 500 block of West Corsicana Street. Hoover made contact with Joliff, the driver of the vehicle and learned that he did not have a valid driver’s license.

Hoover placed Joliff under arrest and began to inventory the vehicle. Hoover discovered three bags of marijuana that had been stashed in the back rest of the passenger seat in the vehicle.  Joliff was transported to the Henderson County Justice Center and his vehicle removed by wrecker.

Joliff had been arrested on July 9 for organized retail theft. He was released later that day after posting $10,000 bond.
